ABOUT ME
Live to work, or work to live? Why not both? As a young academic, I love my work but I try not to let it consume me. Travel, sports, friends, and family take up much of my spare time and I owe many of my accomplishments to these "distractions" and the people with whom I spend those hours. For more academic information, please feel free to download my CV by clicking the button below.
Cheers,
Matt

Travel
Many of my recent adventures were encouraged by wonderful wife Allie (Dr. Allison Tucker). On the left is a picture of Allie, Isla (daughter), and me on a trip tp Europe, specifically a Mediterranean cruise. On a fairly regular basis we travel to Newfoundland, where Allie grew up, to visit friends and family. On the right is a picture of Jason Robinson (a childhood friend) and me at Kicking Horse Mountain in BC. This winter we plan to put Isla on skis for the first time!

Sports
From playing hockey at age 7 to captaining the St. FX Division 1 Rugby team in my Senior year, athletics have always been, and continue to be, a large part of my life. On the left is a picture of our provincial championship winning rugby team in 2003 at St. FX (I'm in the back row, forth from the left). After three shoulder surgeries, I've hung up the rubgy boots but I continue to play soccer and I can often be found in the SMU weight room, if not in my office.

Friends
I've been extremely fortunate to have many great friends from my childhood and I've been just as fortunate to make many new friends as I've traveled. On the left is a picture of Mark Robinson (White shirt), James Smellie (Green shirt), Kyle Hicks (Brown shirt) and me fishing at Kyle's camp at Paradise Lake in NS. On the right is a picture of from a multi-family vacation in Cape Breton.

Family
A loving wife, beautiful daughter, and a rascal of a son... I'm a lucky man! I cherish every day with my family and I look forward to our many adventures in the coming years. On the left is a picture of my wife Allie, daughter Isla, dog Glasgow, and me.

I would not be where I am today without the love and support of my parents. On the right is a picture of my dad (Lance) and mom (Maureen) with my daughter Isla. Whether my pursuits were athletic, entrepreneurial, or academic my parents have always encouraged and helped me through the process, and for that I am eternally grateful.
